How to arrange your wardrobe [and stay positive] during lockdown 2.0

One of my lovely subscribers asked how she should arrange her clothes in her wardrobe. There really is only one rule I have…

To see is to wear.

DID YOU KNOWClutter can trigger the release of the stress hormone cortisol which can increase tension and anxiety and lead to unhealthy habits like procrastination.

Having a well organised wardrobe with items that are wearable being easily accessible helps reduce stress and the time it takes to get ready.

Make sure you are only looking at those items that are wearable and appropriate now… For my UK based subscribers, that means clothes that are going to make you feel good during lockdown.

Putting on a slightly smarter outfit can get you in the frame of mind for work, in the same way, that changing into loungewear at the end of the day can help you to switch off. Creating healthy boundaries is proven to boost overall wellbeing and help reduce the risk of burnout.


I break my wardrobe down into 3 categories

1. Working from home on zoom calls

Focus on colour…

Choose colours that not only suit your skin tone and help to make you look fresh and productive on screen but also colours that energise you. I have a specific section within my tops and dresses for zoom friendly choices. I love to wear scarlet red, ballet slipper pink, cornflour blue and lavender.

2. Working from home when no one is looking

Focus on experimentation…

I know how easy it is to just to put on your sweat pants, but use the time you have when no-one is looking to experiment with your clothes and find new combinations. No-one is there to judge and you can really start defining what items you love in your wardrobe and what items you can remove. You have the time to refine and re-define so make the most of it.

Go to your wardrobe now and pick an item you have haven’t worn for ages and wear it tomorrow… see how it feels. Is it a keeper or a ditcher?

3. Relaxing at home

Focus on fabric…

Loose silhouettes in soft feel good fabrics and calming colours will help you relax and reduce anxiety. I love the lounge wear from COS and have this and this on my wishlist.
