5 [Simple] Steps To Dress Your Problem Areas

April 03, 2025

Dress Your Problem Areas. In my yoga class this week, my instructor said something that really resonated with me:

“The ‘problem’ is usually not the problem we need to fix.”

This made a lot of sense…

What’s the Problem?

It’s like going to the osteopath. You tell them you have an issue with your hamstring, and they start looking at your shoulder.

Once we understand how the hamstring functions in relation to the other muscles in the body, we can address the real source of discomfort.

5 [Simple] Steps To Dress Your Problem Areas

Dressing your body is similar…

We get so focused on specific area where the ‘problem’ is, we forget to consider what is going on around it which could change the way we feel about the pain point.

But I get it…

We’re not always objective with our bodies.

I see this all the time with clients: they put on an outfit, and their eye immediately goes to the area of concern, without taking in the whole picture.

“My butt is too big!”

When the reality is that their shoulders are the same width, and they have balance and style.

It’s about Balance

Dressing, like the muscular structure of the body, is all about balance — and the harmony created between the parts.

This is called Body Balancing.

When you look balanced, you look:

  • Taller
  • Slimmer
  • Like your ideal body type

Too often, we want clothes to erase what’s there. But clothing should be about embracing, not erasing.

It’s about highlighting the areas we love and disguising the areas we don’t, using a three-pronged approach: colour, fabric, and silhouette.
