Bored with your knitwear? This is a clever update.

February 12, 2025

Bored with your knitwear? February… How I Loathe You.

Your cold, grey demeanour is a constant reminder of winter’s lingering hold. Every year around this time, I find myself trying to escape the overwhelming sense of Groundhog Day by focusing on exercise and experimenting with health potions that promise that elusive energy boost I crave.

I’m also looking to my wardrobe for a lift.

Because, as we know, clothing is visceral. The way our clothes make us feel can truly make or break our day.

My wardrobe isn’t broken, but with my usual knitwear in heavy rotation, the familiar jeans and jumper combo is starting to feel flat.

Thankfully, there’s a new knit on the block: Scarf Detail Knitwear.

Following the success of the scarf coat, which became a mainstream sensation in 2021 thanks to Totême’s chic iteration, the popularity of scarf-detail knitwear was inevitable. It’s fresh, modern, and most importantly—versatile. A trend born from practicality.

You will start to notice this detail on blouses, shirt and even T shirts.

What I love most is how effortlessly it layers without having to think about which scarf to pair with your outfit. Simply throw the scarf tie over your shoulder for an instant update. Add your favourite brooch to keep the scarf detail in place and elevate the entire look.

I’ve been wearing mine with everything from trousers to skirts to jeans.

And with options from Alaïa to Massimo Dutti, you can find the best here.

Have an uplifting week,

Penny
