The Necklace That Changes Everything
When the seasons change, it’s easy to get swept up in the promise of newness. To be honest I use it as an excuse to buy… I crave a change in energy and there is no better way to upgrade your energy than by using what you are wearing to do it.
But a shift in season is not just about buying it’s the perfect moment to look at what you already have—and rethink it so it still feels like you, but… refreshed.
Until it’s truly warm enough to swap everything out for summer pieces, how can we lean into the next season while still dressing for the weather as it actually feels?
The Necklace That Changes Everything
One of the most noticeable… and I’m pleased to say, easily transferable trends right now is the return of pendant and statement necklaces, layered over knitwear, tops, and even parkas.
I spotted it at Dries Van Noten, Celine, and Paco Rabanne, and then saw it translated effortlessly onto Olympia Gayot, Leandra Medine, and Ramya Giangola.
My favourite iterations were the functional pendants… mini wallets at Micheal Kors and Victoria Beckham and glasses slung from beads at TWP.
Is this trend a part of the subtle shift towards bohemia? A way of making ‘quiet luxury’ feel a little more playful? Likely both.
Either way, it’s refreshing. We haven’t had a distinct jewellery update in a while, and this one feels particularly welcome.
So, what are we looking for?
- Bold beads and shells—usually reserved for beachwear
- Mixed materials: metals alongside leather, ceramic, and wood
- Oversized pendants and stacked designs
- Functional designs like pouches and min wallets
What I love most is how it instantly makes your knitwear feel new again. You can wear the simplest outfit and let the necklace do all the talking—minimal effort, maximum impact. The necklace is the outfit.
Chances are, you already have something in your collection that you can throw over a lightweight knit or your favourite shirt. But if not, I’ve pulled together some of my favourites.
You can see the selection here.
Have a great week,
Penny
